15.08.23 - EOdal: Open Source Analysis for Satellite Data

EOdal stands for "Earth Observation Data Analysis Library". It is an open-source Python library which is intended to facilitate the access to and the analysis of global satellite data.

Jointly developed by ETH Zürich and Agroscope, the Swiss Federal Center of Excellence for Agricultural Research, EOdal is not limited to applications in agriculture. Conversely, the authors claim that there is a real potential for applications in other fields as well as for the development of an ecosystem of extensions built on top of EOdal.

The STDL has not tested EOdal yet, but thinks it may be worth giving it a try. We just wonder why the authors decided to opt for a restrictive license (GPL-3.0), despite the tool being presented as a library.
